Council compiled the list of activities based on a survey of young women interested in taking part in the 12-week program which will begin in February next year.
This is a great opportunity for local sport and recreation businesses and not-for-profit groups to partner with Council to make the Get Out, Get Active program as successful as its innovative Active Mums Program.
Data shows that only 39% of Queensland women in the 18-24-year age group are physically active. With no Noosa-based physical activity programs specifically tailored to young women, the Get Out, Get Active program will fill an important gap.
The Queensland Government has provided a $10,040 grant to the Noosa Get Out, Get Active program to get women and girls active for life. Council will contribute an additional $4950 to the program.
Partnering providers will be notified by the end of October. Email Council’s Community Development team on commdev@noosa.qld.gov.au for more information or any questions about the program.
