Noosa Shire Council completed the community consultation phase of proposing a new suite of Subordinate Local Laws to replace the current laws on March 20.

The new suite of Local Laws, as approved by Council and gazetted, came into effect on July 1, 2015

    To make having dogs on the beach safer for everyone, Council is proposing to change this off-leash dog area to on-leash and extend its length by 600 metres to the stairs leading to the esplanade.

    Do you use the Sunshine Beach off-leash dog area?  Please comment.

    This off-leash dog area is a four kilometre-long stretch of beach where people can exercise their dogs.  There are no changes to this under the proposed new Subordinate Local Laws.

    The area south of Peregian Beach Surf Lifesaving club to beach access 60 is a gazetted bathing reserve where no dogs should be allowed. The proposed new Subordinate Local Laws would enforce the rules of the bathing reserve. Dogs can be on the beach if they are on-leash and south of beach access 60 at Piper Street.

    Do you use the on-leash dog area south of the Peregian Beach Surf Club?  Please comment.

    Do you wish to comment on the other proposed new Subordinate Local Laws such as:

    - 1. Administration (Applications & Permit Conditions)

    - 2. Animal Management (Dogs)

    - 3. Community & Environmental Management

    - 4. Local Government Controlled Areas, Facilities & Roads

    - 5. Parking

    - 6. Bathing Reserves

    -7. Changes to rules for breeding and selling dogs and cats

    -8. Changes to laws affecting demonstrating that dogs off-leash
